An Important Update on the Hemp Industry
January, 6, 2026 | posted in
I am reaching out because of a recent legislative development that threatens our industry. Due to a backroom deal made during the November government reopening, 95% of hemp extract products — the very wellness tools relied upon by millions of citizens, seniors, and veterans — could be reclassified as Schedule I narcotics as soon as November 2026. This shift would impose severe restrictions on nearly all hemp-derived products.
While HempMeds remains prepared and resilient, these regulations would force a significant change in how HempMeds’ wellness products are formulated and regulated.
Although the new regulations would not take effect until November 2026, one year is simply not enough time to establish a fair and sustainable long-term framework for the Hemp and CBD markets. Without an extension to the effective date, consumers who depend on HempMeds for their daily quality of life risk losing access entirely.
HempMeds is taking action. We are working closely with the U.S. Hemp Roundtable to advocate for an 18-month extension to the effective date deadline. This additional time is essential to provide regulatory clarity, protect American small businesses, and ensure our customers can continue accessing safe, organic hemp wellness products without interruption.
Your voice is our greatest asset in this fight. I urge you to take just one minute today to click the link below. It will allow you to quickly message your representatives and ask them to support this critical extension.
We have navigated challenges before, and we will navigate this one together. Thank you for your continued dedication to our mission and for standing with us to protect the future of hemp wellness.
Warmly,
Bob Wells
